Built to Stand Out: Our Latest 2025 Chevy Colorado Z71 Custom Upgrade

At American Wheel and Tire, we’ve built our reputation over 40 years by transforming vehicles into machines that demand attention—and the 2025 Chevy Colorado Z71 is no exception. This midsize truck has quickly become one of our favorite platforms to work with. Why? Because Chevy has finally delivered on what midsize truck owners have been asking for: more space, more tech, and a more aggressive stance right off the lot. But of course, we couldn’t leave it stock.

This build features the perfect blend of rugged performance and sleek, head-turning style. We started by giving the Z71 a proper lift using the 3-inch SST kit from ReadyLIFT. Not only does this kit provide the clearance needed to run larger tires, but it maintains factory ride quality—making it ideal for daily drivers who still want that off-road capability. With the added height, the Colorado now has the kind of commanding presence that makes full-size truck owners do a double take.

To match that lift, we mounted a set of 20×9 Arena Mesa wheels in a 6×139.7 bolt pattern, featuring a gunmetal center with a satin black lip. The combination of finishes hits that perfect balance between refined and rugged, and it ties in beautifully with the Colorado’s bold new design lines. These wheels are wrapped in 285/60R20 Venom Power Terra Hunter X/T tires, giving this truck serious all-terrain capability without sacrificing comfort or road manners. These tires offer aggressive sidewall styling, reliable traction, and durability—everything you want in a tire built for mixed use.

For improved utility and a bold finishing touch, we added NFAB satin black nerf steps. Not only do they give passengers easier access to the now taller cab, but they also provide some side protection and enhance the truck’s overall aesthetic. The satin black finish matches up perfectly with the wheel lip, tying the look together in a clean, functional way.

We also paid attention to the little details that make a big impact. The calipers were painted bright red, which gives the wheels a performance-inspired pop and adds that custom flair you won’t get from the factory. It’s small touches like this that elevate a build from great to unforgettable.
